Value Analysis of Sperm Spontaneous Acrosome Reaction in Male Fertility Evaluation
نویسنده
چکیده
Objective: Using correlation analysis between the sperm spontaneous acrosome reaction rate (SARR) and routine semen parameters in male infertility patients, we explored the value of the sperm spontaneous acrosome reaction in the evaluation of sperm functions. Methods: The participants comprised of 219 male infertility patients who had visited the Center for Reproductive Medicine, Shandong University from October 2016 to March 2017. According to the sperm SARR, we classified the patients with infertility into the control group and the case group. According to the WHO human semen examination and processing laboratory manual, fifth edition, recommendations and standards. We obtained routine semen parameters including semen volume, sperm concentration, total motility, and progressive sperm rate, and we measured sperm motility rate and the proportion of sperm with normal morphology. Results: With regard to the total motility, progressive sperm rate, sperm survival rate and the proportion of sperm with normal morphology, there were statistically significant differences between the two groups (p<0.01), but the data concerning patients’ age, semen volume, or sperm concentration showed no significant difference (p>0.05). Conclusion: Sperm SARR in patients with infertility is closely related to routine semen parameters and plays a supplementary reference in male fertility evaluation.

Prediction of spontaneous conception based on semen parameters.
Accurate prognosis of male fertility based on semen measurements is still not straightforward. This study was designed to identify the best predictors of fertility and to develop a multiple regression model predicting fertility using selected parameters of semen analysis. The predictive value of standard semen parameters and selected functional tests were studied in 113 fertile men and in 109 s...
متن کاملIncreased seminal plasma lead levels adversely affect the fertility potential of sperm in IVF.
BACKGROUND Lead remains in high levels in the environment and is known to reduce fertility in animal models, but a direct link between lead exposures and human infertility has not yet been established. METHODS In a prospective, double-blind study of the metal ion levels and sperm function, semen was obtained from partners of 140 consecutive women undergoing their first IVF cycle. Lead in semi...
متن کاملClinical assessment of the male fertility
The evaluation of infertility in males consists of physical examination and semen analyses. Standardized semen analyses depend on the descriptive analysis of sperm motility, morphology, and concentration, with a threshold level that must be surpassed to be considered a fertile spermatozoon. Nonetheless, these conventional parameters are not satisfactory for clinicians since 25% of infertility c...
متن کاملHuman sperm non-nuclear progesterone receptor expression is a novel marker for fertilization outcome.
In a prospective, blind study, we have examined the relationship among the expression of human sperm surface progesterone receptors, the ability to undergo a mannose-stimulated acrosome reaction and the rate of fertilization in vitro. Individual aliquots of motile spermatozoa were surface-labelled with progesterone and/or mannose-fluoresceinated ligands. Spontaneous acrosome loss and the increa...

Background: This study investigated the probable effects of daily administration of methamphetamine (MA) on sperm motility, acrosome reaction (AR), acridine orange (AO), sperm chromatin dispersion (SCD) test and chromomycin A3 (CMA3) in mice. Materials and Methods: Twenty four NMRI male mice were administrated three different doses of MA intraperitoneally (n=6 in each group). Different doses of...
